The man is on fire at the moment. Bristol City are perhaps the form team in English football at the moment, having won nine games on the trot before falling just short against Wolves in the FA Cup last week.
That run vaulted them from mid table obscurity to the thick of the play-off race, and they currently sit in fifth place in the Championship. They were hoping to give themselves another boost in their quest for the Premier League today, when they travelled to take on league leaders Norwich City.
One of the main catalysts in their turn in fortunes has been the form of Callum O'Dowda. The Republic of Ireland winger was in and out of the side for the first half of the campaign, but he has starred since the turn of the year.
Bristol took the lead early in today's game, only to be pegged back by the hosts. O'Dowda would stand up to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, producing one of the goals of the season with an incredible solo effort. Take a look at this one:

What an effort! He picks the ball up just inside the opposition half, before beating three Norwich players and finishing neatly. The piece of skill to bring him past the final pair of defenders is mesmerising, and the strike wasn't half bad either.
At 23-years old, O'Dowda has a bright future ahead of him. He could well find himself in the Premier League next season, be it with Bristol City or another team.
He could have a major say on Ireland's fortunes during the Euro 2020 Qualifying campaign, and on current form he would be very difficult to leave out of the team. With young players such as O'Dowda, and Preston pair Alan Browne and Sean Maguire displaying very strong form at the moment, the immediate and long-term future of the Irish team may not be as bleak as many have predicted.
