Peter Crouch is back in the Premier League, and in the process filled a hole in your soul that you didn't even know existed. The 38-year old has signed for Burnley on a free transfer, with Sam Vokes heading in the opposite direction to Stoke City in a £7million deal.
We thought the days of seeing Crouch in the Premier League were behind us, as the 42-cap England international reaches the twilight of his career. He is back, however, and having someone with the top level experience of Crouch in the dressing room will no doubt appeal to Clarets boss Sean Dyche as they seek to pull themselves out of a relegation dogfight.
The social media team at Burnley are clearly excited by the transfer, announcing the signing with a cracking video on social media. The video is of course a nod to Crouch's famous robot celebration, which he first broke out playing for England in 2006.

Very well done. One of the nicest guys in the game, Peter Crouch is amongst the most popular players in football, and supporters will no doubt be delighted to see him back in the English top flight. He has been presenting an incredibly successful podcast in recent times, and to be honest who doesn't need a bit more Crouchy in their lives?
When you consider the role he will be asked to play, this transfer may not be as bizarre as it may first seem. The former Liverpool man was never the most mobile of players, and unless he has some lost a few inches of height in the past couple of years, can still be a presence in the opposition penalty area despite his advancing years.
Bringing him on for the last few minutes of a game would not be the worst strategy in the world, and having him mentor some of the younger players in the squad along the way will also be an added bonus.
