The fall-out from the Republic of Ireland's 4-1 defeat away to Wales last Thursday continues as former manager Brian Kerr has issued a damning view of the current state of Irish football.
Last year's 5-1 World Cup qualifier hammering was followed up by an equally poor loss on Ireland's return to competitive football and the aftermath has seen increased questions surrounding the managerial situation as well as the overall development of talent in the country.
Speaking on Virgin Media Sport, Kerr was adamant that there are severe issues at the heart of the game and pointed to the hierarchy's role in it.
We have no leadership at the top of it. The leadership is a shambles, we've had the same leadership for about 20 years now. Many of them are far too old for the modern game to even understand it, yet they are directing operations. Right through the system, I think the system is failing us.
"We've no leadership at the top."
"The system is failing us."
"It needs radical action."

"It's not good enough for the manager to say, 'Brian Clough just let us go out and play'. That was 40 years ago!"
