You may never have before concerned yourself with the Ba-Vi derby, but, in today's clash between Bahia and Vitória, a 1-1 draw was played out either side of a fairly heated brawl.
With plenty of apparent score-settling going on, a penalty taken and scored by Bahia's Vinícius Goes Barbosa de Souza sparked a near-riot amongst the players, substitutes and staff, the match is reported to have been abandoned.
Fairly regular opponents given the structure of Brazil's domestic leagues, it would have appeared that the initial problems began when Vitória's 'keeper took umbrage with de Souza's celebration.
However, given the manner in which it quickly became an all-out free for all, it is hard to imagine that there wasn't some previous here.
With punches flying and players being dragged all over the pitch, numerous apparent cessations in hostilities just seemed to prompt further carnage a few seconds later.
Although what action the referee took is not entirely clear yet, certain reports suggest that nine players in total received red cards and the match was perhaps wisely halted there and then.
Either way, it was quite unlike anything you will see. Watch the descent into madness below.
