It was all going so well for Ireland. Darron Gibson was pulling the strings, and the ball was passing the ball around nicely. Ireland were definitely had the better of play, and Ciaran Clark had a great chance from Ward's cross early on.
But then Belarus started to get into it. They were threatening before Gibson gave the ball away cheaply and Belarus made Ireland pay. It was extremely sloppy defense from Ireland, showing no urgency to get back and put pressure on the shot.
But take nothing away from Mikhail Gordeychuk, who bent the ball around Christie and beyond Given's reach.
