Dundalk are Premier Division champions once more after a Patrick Hoban goal secured the precious point that powered them over the line.
A 1-1 draw versus St. Patrick's Athletic proved enough for Stephen Kenny's side as Cork failed to beat Shamrock Rovers. Dundalk were full value for the league title over the course of the year and completed it in fitting fashion, with their goalscorer supreme Hoban slotting a trademark finish in the last minute.

It prompted some remarkable on-field celebrations, while Stephen Kenny was reluctant to accept any praise for himself and instead directed it towards his squad: "It has been amazing all season, credit to the players. They have been a credit to themselves."

A delighted and champagne-soaked Patrick Hoban told Tony O'Donoghue of RTE Sport he decided to "just whack it" and was delighted to secure the crucial goal.

The twelve point gap between Dundalk and their nearest competitor, Cork City, tell only part of the story. They were only beaten three times this season and played the best football while doing so. The season is not over yet as an FAI Cup Final awaits.
