Boasting a relatively large Irish contingent for their FA Cup 3rd round trip to Wycombe this afternoon, Preston North End's Daryl Horgan, Alan Browne, Greg Cunningham and Andy Boyle scarcely let the side down.
Running up an impressive 5-1 win, both Horgan and Browne (2) found themselves on the score-sheet.
Taking an early lead through former Manchester United player Josh Harrop, it was Browne who doubled their lead.
With a finish not too dissimilar from Eric Cantona's FA Cup final strike in 1996, the Cork-born Browne left a flailing Scott Brown with no chance whatsoever.
A wonderful strike from Browne, it was to be former Dundalk man Daryl Horgan who cancelled out a brief moment of concern when Wycombe had pulled one back.
Sticking with our theme of classic Manchester United FA Cup goals, Horgan may not have ran the same distance as Ryan Giggs in the 1999 semi-final against Arsenal, but he certainly showed what he can do here, leaving distraught Wycombe defenders in his wake.
Browne was then left with the task of putting away a Preston penalty. Putting the game well beyond the reach of their opponents, he struck this with some serious conviction.
Not to be left out, Greg Cunningham, running from deep, lofted a beautiful cross into the path of Harrop who delightfully finished off his own brace for the afternoon - a truly stunning cross.
With Boyle making his appearance for the last quarter of an hour, it was a good day all round for the Irish players of Preston North End.
Sitting only 3 points off the play-off positions in the Championship, Alex Neil will be hoping that today's cup success can push the team on further in the league also.
Needless to say, there was plenty of praise forthcoming for today's convincing win - Browne's goal getting plenty of the attention from teammates and fans alike.
