Congratulations to Cork City defender Alan Bennett, who crowned a magnificent year by getting married at the Maryborough Hotel this week.
And congratulations to his 'Best Men', Tim Crowley and former Cork City player Eoghan Lougheed, who positively roasted the two-cap Ireland international in his wedding video.
Lougheed played the role of the Cork Evening Echo's soccer correspondent Noel Spillane, with Crowley - dressed the part - answering in the guise of Bennett, whose hard-nosed footballing style certainly does not match his articulate and softly-spoken manner during post-match interviews. Despite hailing from Waterfall, Bennett's accent can occasionally border on 'Trevor Welchian' while on air.
Indeed, the 35-year-old Cork City icon has a degree in professional sportswriting and broadcasting, to couple with a separate degree in marketing. Such is his articulate nature, Bennett is often first port-of-call for both 96FM and RedFM when each radio station is reporting on Cork City.
This, along with his gratuitous engagement with fans on Twitter, did not escape the keen ears and eyes of his two best friends, who positively destroyed him on the big screen at the Maryborough Hotel.

That's a great effort by the two lads, in fairness, and we're sure it had the room in raptures. In the interest of fairness, here's Bennett giving a highly emotional and indeed wonderful interview following Cork City's FAI Cup final victory.
The League of Ireland has provided us with some magnificently funny moments this season, with Pajo Flynn's outrageous retirement statement propelling him to Balls.ie Man Of The Year contention. Long may it continue.
