Aiden McGeady's form for Preston North End continues to impress.
Good Friday brought about a full round of fixtures in the Championship, and while all eyes will be on Newcastle United vs Leeds in the late kickoff live on Sky Sports, the Irish contingent at Preston had a 3pm kickoff against high-flying Huddersfield to look forward to.
Aiden McGeady got the opening goal, and while it's no surprise that the Ireland international was the man to produce the goods for Preston as he seems to do week-in, week-out these days, the goal itself is not something you unusually see from him.
McGeady picked up the ball, drove at the defenders in front of him, and unleashed a thumping strike into the top corner.
Lovely strike. Alan McInally was only loving it.
Huddersfield were sitting in 3rd place in the Champioship going into the game knowing that a loss could allow Reading and Leeds to leapfrog them depending on results, but they managed to turn it around and claim a last-gasp 3-2 win.
As for McGeady, it's his 8th goal of the season, so it's clear that the move to Preston has been fantastic for him. While some Ireland fans will inevitably ask why he doesn't reproduce that sort of stuff for Ireland, it's clear that the free role he has been given by Simon Grayson is getting the best out of his talents.
