Considering that last season was one of the best of Aiden McGeady's career in terms of playing time and regularly contributing goals and assists, we thought that the Ireland international would have had a decent relationship with the Preston fans...
We were wrong.
After following Simon Grayson to Sunderland, clearly the club's fans did not appreciate that decision and were on his back on Saturday at Deepdale, booing him from early in the game.
McGeady scored with a lovely finish from the edge of the box to level the scores at 2-2 in the second hald, and then sprinted back to celebrate in front of the Preston fans in the vein of Emmanuel Adebayor for Man City vs Arsenal.
Wow.
Speaking before the match Aiden McGeady claimed that he wouldn't swap a single Preston player for one of his Sunderland teammates, which is perhaps why the home fans were booing him today, but now the former Celtic man has made himself a figure of hate at Deepdale.
McGeady one of the best players I’ve seen in a North End shirt just blew that with his pitch length taunt. No need really #Pnefc

Would of been beautiful to see Pearson 2 foot McGeady during that celebration

Mcgeady would be nothing without #pnefc. What a shithouse. #safc

So much for not celebrating against former teams...
