Sunderland may be in the third tier of English football, but at least their fans seem to be sort of enjoying watching the team play football again. Being a fan of the club has been a fairly joyless affair over the last decade or so, with relegation battles heaped on further misery as the club fell into financial trouble.
After years of decline, hopes were high that promotion could be achieved this season. After a poor run, they currently find themselves eighth in the league. However, promotion is still very much a possibility.
They do get the occasional reminder that they have fallen down the ladder.
One came on Tuesday night, when they visited Oxford United in the Carabao Cup. While this was in a cup competition, this was against a team from their division.
While Oxford would ultimately emerge victorious after a penalty shootout, but the most memorable part of the game came from Aiden McGeady.
With his side trailing, the Ireland international would have a cut at goal after the ball broke to him in the penalty area. The shot would sail over the bar, before finding its way into the stadium car park and nailing a car as it attempted to leave the ground.
The thing about this one is that it wasn't even that bad of a shot. If this had been in a Premier League ground, it wouldn't have even went a quarter of a way up the stand.
The fact that a car was actually leaving the match is also pretty funny.
If you need an idea of how League One we now are, Aiden McGeady's shot over the bar just hit someone's car. As they were trying to drive home from the game.

Hopefully the car escaped without damage.
