There is less than 36 hours to go in the Transfer Window, and Liverpool's fans are still hoping their club can convince Southampton to part ways with Virgil van Dijk.
Online, there is numerous mini-communities of fans talking about their own club, Liverpool fan forums are among the most entertaining.
On Monday, a rumour surfaced on social media that a private plane leaving Bournemouth was on the way to Liverpool. Southampton is only 30 miles away from Bournemouth Airport, so it must have been Virgil van Dijk. Right? Who knows.
The Liverpool FC reddit account went into overdrive throughout Monday afternoon as fansput on their detective hats to try and find out if the Dutch defender was actually on his way to Liverpool.
Such was the frenzy at van Dijk's potential arrival, a flight tracking website (that is used globally) crashed as Liverpool fans logged on to track the flightpath of the private jet.
You can tell transfer deadline day is three days away.
A plane flying from Bournemouth to Liverpool has to be Virgil van Dijk obviously 😆😉 pic.twitter.com/ll7UrHWHf5— Match of the Day (@BBCMOTD) August 29, 2017
The plane in question reportedly had the same interior as one the Dutch defender was pictured in earlier this summer.
Once the flight landed, Liverpool fans' detective work went into overdrive. A silver people carrier that arrived at the airport was seemingly a "club car" from the club.
The same car was seemingly used to bring Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah to the club's Melwood training ground when they arrived in the city.
Well over 24 hours after the apparent sightings van Dijk still hasn't signed for Liverpool. It doesn't look likely it's going to happen either.
While the detective work of Liverpool fans must be applauded, it looks like their efforts were in vain.
You can read who the whole story unfolded on the Liverpool FC Reddit account here. In the end, they concluded there was a high chance it was probably the injured Adam Lallana returning from a trip home to spend time with his family in Bournemouth.
