Real Madrid's Champions League defence has begun brightly with Basel being blown out of the water at the Bernabeu. An own goal put Madrid in front before Gareth Bale then grabbed his first goal of the Champions League season after a delightful pass from Luka Modric to put Madrid 2-0 to the good against Basel.
