Without any of last year's attacking triumvirate of Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling, it's fair to say that Liverpool looked rather limp against Aston Villa at Anfield. Although Sterling was introduced late on, their absence certainly showed with Gabby Agbonlahor's early header giving Villa a deserving win.
At the other end, Liverpool flattered to deceive and the fact that this incredible tackle by Philippe Senderos on Mario Balotelli was one of the main talking points says quite a lot about Liverpool's attacking prowess on the day. Incredibly stupid by the Swiss defender, but very funny for the neutral fan.
Senderos is not known as the most mobile of defenders, but even for him choosing to kick his man instead of following his run is going a bit far.
