Vine: La Liga Player Commits Football Treason, Only Gets Yellow Card

Meet Weligton Oliveira, Malaga's Brazillian defender with the name that looks like a typo. Aside from spelling his name annoyingly, he is also a bit of a nuisance on the pitch.

Last night Malaga battled to a hard-earned goalless draw against European behemoths Barcelona. It marked the first time Barca dropped points in La Liga this season, but by far the biggest talking point in the game was an incident involving our friend Weligton and Lionel Messi.

The Brazillian committed the unforgivable crime of grabbing Messi's face and shoving him to the ground. If there was any justice in the world, laying your hands on the greatest footballer in the world during a match would be, at the very least, a jailable offence. Amazingly, he only received a yellow card for the assault. What is it with the referees in La Liga being so incompetent?

This isn't the first time Weligton has clashed with Messi. Judging by this highlight reel of despicable fouls, he has a personal vendetta against the Argentine.

Still need more convincing that Weligton encapsulates everything that is wrong with modern football? This pathetic dive against Athletico Madrid should do the trick.
