After we were all forced to take a day off from the World Cup yesterday, normal order has been restored. Brazil took on Chile in the first match of the knockout rounds in Belo Horizonte and it was thoroughly entertaining stuff.

Referee Howard Webb had an early decision to make after Hulk took a tumble in the box.

It wasn't given but Brazil were celebrating soon after. One for the dubious goals panel but either way the host nation went in front.

Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez equalised for Chile after some sloppy Brazilian play at the back.

The second half began at a similar pace. Hulk thought he put Brazil in the lead only for Webb to bring it back for a hand ball, yellow card a bit harsh?

To extra time it went and the pace had settled down until Mauricio Pinilla went within inches of winning it for Chile at the death.

It went to penalties and Pinilla was the first to miss.

Alexis Sanchez also saw his penalty saved, but misses from Hulk and Willian left it all square. That left a lot of pressure on Neymar.

Gonzalo Jara, last seen playing for Nottingham Forrest, didn't handle the pressure quite as well and, with the width of a post, Chile were out.
