Odd stat alert: Manchester City became the first Premier League side to win the first leg of a knockout Champions League game since 2012.
In his post-match interview duties, Vincent Kompany looked chuffed with City's night in Kiev following the 3-1 win.
When RTE got their chance, Kompany faced a question about the terrifying prospect of facing Ireland in the big summer extravaganza in France.
Does he view the assignment in Bordeaux on 18 June with trepidation? No! He referred to Ireland's technical excellence and silky ball players. Actually, he didn't.
We are, unsurprisingly, possessed of 'fire in the belly, however.
We loved it because obviously a lot of Irish players play in the Premier League, a lot of the Belgium players play in the Premier League.
And as much as Ireland is known for having fire in the belly, I think we are too.
We’re just looking forward to it, it’s going to be brilliant.

Earlier today, Giovanni Trapattoni offered his tuppence on Ireland's progress since his departure. He feels Ireland can enjoy a 'good run' at the Euros though he hasn't changed his fundamental opinion of Irish football.
With compactness and good tactics, they can think of doing well.
It's clear that from a technical point of view, there are stronger squads and therefore Ireland will have to fight a lot to try to do well.
