For Vincent Kompany, his first season at Burnley couldn't be going much better, as his side sit top of the Championship, with Josh Cullen key to their success.

After their relegation from the Premier League last season, Kompany's side are five points clear of second place Sheffield United, and an incredible 18 points clear of Watford in third place.

While his appointment was somewhat unexpected from Anderlecht, Vincent Kompany has implemented his own style on the club, and the players have bought into it.

Under Sean Dyche, Burnley were known for a side that were hard to beat, difficult to break down and were very direct in attack. However, with Kompany in charge, they have adopted a more possession based style of football that has been brilliant to watch.

Vincent Kompany Full Of Praise For Josh Cullen

One player that has been key to their style is Ireland midfielder Josh Cullen. Just like his manager, Kompany joined the club in the summer from Belgium, as they beat off competition from the Championship and Premier League.

The 26-year-old has been crucial to Burnley's success so far this season, with his passing and creativity at central midfield crucial to their system.

While Ireland fans have seen his quality during Stephen Kenny's time in charge, his manager at club level couldn't give him more praise if he tried with his comments this afternoon.

I can't be complimentary enough, but I think everyone can see what he does. The team appreciates it; his strength is that he's the ultimate player that puts the team before himself.

The best way to describe Josh Cullen is that he came to Anderlecht, from Charlton, as a squad player and he became the most important player in my squad. Then he came to Burnley, back in English football in the Championship, where he was really going to help us out, and he became one of the most important players in the team.

He's an example for other players as well because some players with extreme talent would have tremendous careers with half of what he has in terms of personality and attitude.

Some very high praise for Cullen from Kompany, who will be hoping he will bring the same standards to the Premier League next season.
