"I’ve never been able to retain a title and I want to see if this team can be even more successful," Vincent Kompany told Sky Sports after Manchester City's status as Premier League champions was confirmed when Manchester United fell to West Brom on Sunday afternoon.
The City captain was already thinking of next season, believing his teammates will be rolling their eyes at his words. At the conclusion of the interview, Kompany said he was going to "meet the lads".
The lads turned out not to be just Kyle Walker, Fabian Delph, John Stones and Bernardo Silva but also some supporters. Kompany and Co. celebrated the title at a pub near Hale Station in Altrincham.
"If there's kids in the room, cover their ears," informed Kompany before launching into a mini-speech.
"It's been a fucking long journey. Especially if you have been a Blue for more than 40 years. But tonight, we win it again! Let's celebrate together."
