The View From Germany: How Bild Are Building Up Tonight's Game

It appears that Bild are playing up a rivalry between Roy Keane and Joachim Loew ahead of the Ireland v Germany Euro qualifying clash in Gelsenkirchen tonight.  The German newspaper went with the provocative headline:

Ireland coach Keane threatens Germany

"Germany is a wounded animal"

The somewhat comical looking photo might make readers forget that Martin O'Neill is the manager of Ireland, and as such is actually squaring off against Germany's World Cup-winning coach.

Bild was also full of praise for Robbie Keane, who's three goals in 13 minutes against Gibraltar set the record for the fastest hat-trick in the history of the European qualifiers. they referred to Keano as "the star of Irish football" and described him as a "living legend". They might be a tad disappointed if the rumours that Ireland's record goalscorer could drop to the bench for tonight ring true.

Ireland's crucial match against Germany kicks off at 7:45pm on RTE2. We'll also have full coverage of all the developments at Balls.ie.
