This incident comes from the Coppa Italia clash between Bari and Avellino over the weekend. Avellino striker Gianmario Comi wrestled with opponent Giuseppe DeLuca and bit the Bari man during the clash.
To make things worse for DeLuca, he was dismissed after the scuffle while Comi escapedcensure. Almost inevitably, Avellino went on to score five minutes later.
We’ve seen some awful things in football over the weekend: a genuinely terrible tragedy on an African football field, the shelling of a fine stadium as the terrible conflict rages on in eastern Ukraine and a staggeringly excessive fine handed to an Irish club for the display of a national flag deemed undesirable by a UEFA observer, so it’s worth retaining some sense of perspective when examining clashes like this one, no matter how unsavory they might be at the time.
In other Bari-related news (there's something you don't type very often), Benjamin Button-esque manchild Joseph Minala, who turned 18 over the weekend, has joined i Galetti on loan from Lazio.
