Super Bowl ad breaks tend to bombard folk with stale products such as Coke and McDonalds and Hyundai cars. Not once have we seen an ad for fertiliser during a Super Bowl ad break. They are all the poorer for it.
Ad breaks during All-Ireland finals, by contrast, give fertiliser products their due, not to mention car dealerships in Kilkenny.
And then there are the GAA farmer ads, rightly celebrated on Wednesday. These were a way of life in the 80s and early 90s.
We were particularly pleased to see Joe Rabbitte's collaboration with Worm Ban being broadcast once more. Though, this viewer seemed remembered the product as 'Worm-all'. The phrase 'you're on the ball with worm-all' had lodged itself in his head.
