Ronnie Whelan all but implored Jose Mourinho to cancel any plans he had of signing Spanish international Diego Costa after the Atletico Madrid striker had a fairly ineffective game for Spain during their 5-1 shellacking at the hands of Holland last night.
Whelan believes that "top, top" centre backs wouldn't be worried about Costa - a player who finished with 35 goals in 44 games for a side that won La Liga and reached the Champions League final last season. In fairness to Ronnie he did say that "sometimes he looks half decent".
