It's a regular complaint that modern football clubs have lost the connection to their old-school roots, and while that's undoubtedly true, there are still some lingering traditions. Take for example the humble initiation ceremony. Granted, the initiation faced by multi-millionaire players may be tame compared to what it may have been but nonetheless it's a nice little remnant of the past.
QPR have been joined on their pre-season tour of Germany by new signings Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker and, as tradition dictates, they had to get up in front of the squad and belt out a tune. Caulker, bless him, looks like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Ferdinand, on the other hand, speaks a couple of lines like the supremely confident former England captain that he is.
