Paul Scholes surprised many on his punditry debut for the Manchester derby last night. Especially when he ripped into Arsenal but before that he gave his thoughts on David Moyes.

He was considerably less vicious in his words for Moyes than he was for Arsenal, perhaps to be expected considering his links to Man Utd and the possibility of him returning there as a coach in the future.

The former Utd midfielder said the club's manager should be given time with his most critical words being that a few of his signings have not worked out. He also stated that Moyes could have been better backed in the transfer market last summer.

And on his former position in the team:

Centre midfield, yeah, you could say they've been looking for that for quite a few years now and maybe haven't quite come up with the answer.

Bit of an understatement there, Paul.

Earlier in the evening he was quite critical of Marouane Fellaini though:

He's not been great, has he? You have to admit that. He did have problems with his wrist and I know he missed a lot of games but, for the money they paid for him, I'd be expecting a lot more, to be honest with you. I'd be expecting a few goals, at least. For a central midfielder at Manchester United for £27m, I'm expecting a few goals.
