He spends a lot of his time with the press these days lamenting the dearth of quality strikers at Chelsea but today Jose Mourinho has come out in defence of Fernando Torres, saying the Spaniard still has a future at the club.
He's a good professional in training, he is a good professional in his social life. When he is on the pitch he tries to do his best.
Mourinho said that they want more from Torres but that the striker would be the first to demand that off himself.
Why Torres has fallen from grace so badly is of course one of football's great mysteries. As is why Mourinho thought that publicly berating his forwards time and time again would cause them to improve.
