To be quite honest, we here at Balls can’t decide if the whole America falling in love with ‘soccer’ thing is a positive development or not. On one hand, it’s going to become a nice little retirement home for plenty of ageing footballers but on the other, we’re not sure they’re in it for the long haul.
Granted, the US are doing well in the World Cup and everything seems great, but that’s not what football is about. Half the time it’s dour 0-0 draws when you’ve nothing to cheer you up but a dodgy looking spice burger. Could all those American fans hack it on a cold Monday night at Dalymount?
