Something very strange is happening in Dutch football at the moment. Under Danny Blind they have managed to fail to qualify for Euro 2016, in a group where Iceland qualified for their first major tournament ever, despite finishing in third place at last summer's World Cup.
Since Louis Van Gaal departed for Manchester United, the wheels have well and truly fallen off for the Netherlands, and their misery was compiled by a 3-0 defeat away to Turkey last night.
Funnily enough, the score could have been a lot different thanks to some sensational crossing from Manchester United winger Memphis Depay. The former PSV man put a goal on a plate on four separate occasions, only to see those chances wasted by some Sunday League finishing.
Actually, we may have been a bit harsh on Sunday League strikers there. Utterly embarrassing attempts from the Dutch players.
It makes encouraging watching for Manchester United fans, as Memphis has shown he is more than capable of providing chances from wide positions, the problem looks like it will be having bodies in the box to get on the end of them.
