Initially, we thought we had another candidate for the Rivaldo Hall of Shame with this dive from Marcelo against Wolfsburg tonight.
A stonewall contender for the worst dive of all time accolade.

The Real Madrid defender flung himself on the ground like a tragic heroine after Wolfsburg's Maximillian Arnold had the temerity to get in the way of his petulant headbutt.
However, on closer inspection, it falls shy of belonging in the category of the 'worst dive ever' because the Wolfsburg did appear to catch Marcelo on the chin or, at least, some part of the face.
It was not admirable behaviour from Marcelo. He'll not be picking up any gongs at the Fair Play Awards this year. But dubbing an act as being amongst the 'worst dives of all time' is a big statement.
It is reserved for those who invent contact, not for those who merely exaggerate it. That is par for the course.
