Former Cork City striker Roy O'Donovan, who scored heavily while playing in Malaysia in the past two seasons, recently transferred to A-League strugglers, the Central Coast Mariners.
Last night, the Mariners, currently bottom of the League, beat Wellington Phoenix 3-1, with O'Donovan laying on the second goal. However, his performance was overshadowed by a gratuitous headbutt of Wellington defender Manny Muscat during the second half.
Bafflingly, the referee decided a yellow card was sufficient punishment.
Muscat himself could have been shown a red after lashing out with an elbow prior to the headbutt, an incident which drew blood from O'Donovan.
