In the end it didn't really matter but for a while Vasilios Torosidis' comedy own goal gave Romania a slight glimpse of hope in the second leg of their World Cup playoff last night.

Greece were leading 1-0 in the game and 4-1 on aggregate when the Roma defender swung a boot at the ball in the edge of his own box. What resulted was the unintended consequence that the ball ended up the the top corner of his own net.
