After a year and a bit in the job, the verdict on Louis Van Gaal is in. The RTE honeymoon period, short by the standards of honeymoon periods afforded by other national broadcasters, is well and truly over.
Eamon Dunphy believes him to be a 'spoofer' and a 'bullshitter'. 'Spoofer' is a treasured term of abuse from Dunphy. He sees evidence of spooferism everywhere. He only pulls out the 'b' word on special occasions.
When we returned to Donnybrook, following the interview with Louis, Eamo couldn't contain his laughter, or at least, he was keen to put across that impression.
Whereas Bill was inclined to laugh broadly at Dunphy's excesses, Darragh Maloney, in keeping with the approach he took to shackling Joe Brolly during the Munster Final, took a more censorious attitude and responded 'No, Eamon, No'.
