According to newly appointed Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho sent a text saying that he is "jealous" of the list of clubs that the Dutchman has managed.
While Van Gaal claims that his relationship with Alex Ferguson is very friendly, it appears that an interesting rivalry is brewing between the Chelsea and United managers.
Jose was considered by many to be top of the list in the running for the United job last summer - after Sir Alex stepped down as manager - but the Portuguese had already pledged his allegiances to Chelsea for a second time.
Van Gaal says that Mourinho was the first person he texted after being appointed ...
Mourinho was the first one I texted, and he was the first one to text me back.
He said he was jealous of my list of clubs.
It is extremely unlikely that the comments were directed in a spiteful manner and Van Gaal will probably look upon them as a healthy statement of intent from Mourinho's camp - we'd like to think that Mourinho called him a jammy bollox.
Van Gaal who starts the job in July, is also looking forward to enjoying a celebratory tipple with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
I’ll undoubtedly have a drink with Ferguson,
We’ve done that before. We like each other.
The aim is to bring United back to the number one position as soon as possible, because that’s where they were under Ferguson.
