It's been well documented that Wayne Rooney has struggled to find his form being deployed as Manchester United's lone striker in the opening games of the season.
The Premier League's third-highest scorer of all-time has been heavily criticised by many and on social media in particular, with some asserting that his performance in last week's 1-0 win over Aston Villa was his worst ever in a United shirt.
Rooney’s two opening games this season have been practically invisible. Shame LvG won’t drop him or buy some competition for him.

Louis Van Gaal was quick to praise his team after last night's 3-1 win over Club Brugge in their Champions League Qualifier, even saying he "wanted to kiss" Memphis Depay after his stunning brace. The manager also reserved some "praise" for Wayne Rooney, but we're not sure the his captain will be happy with it.
The Man United manager said,
He had a shot on target, so I'm happy.
It seems Van Gaal doesn't have high expectations for Rooney this season if he is content to have his first choice striker manage a solitary shot on target, which to be fair, is one more than he managed in his first two Premier League matches.
