Gary Neville took his Valencia side to the Camp Nou on Wednesday night and received an absolute battering at the hands of the most terrifying attack in football today (and possibly ever).
Barca were in mesmerising form and could have hit double digits on the night, and Gary Neville's future at the club is now in serious doubt with stories popping in Spanish media suggesting Rafa Benitez is being talked to as his successor, but as of yet the Valencia hierarchy have shown nothing but support for Neville.
This support has seriously pissed off Santiago Canizares. The outspoken Spanish stopper took to his twitter account after the 7-0 drubbing and sent out a series of tweets that made it very clear he is upset, and that he wants Neville gone.
I expected the coach's resignation, as well as some apologies. I may be ignorant, but I'm surprised he hasn't. I thought he was honest.
This day you can't explain. We must apologise to fans for one of the worst results in our history.
If Garcia Pitarch trusts in Gary as he said on Monday, I'm disappointed. If it's not like that, why did he say that? If (Garcia Pitarch) lied to us, and tomorrow he proposes the sacking of the coach and it's not accepted, it's best if (Garcia Pitarch) leaves as well.
Worse than the loss, is giving up in the fight. We are facing a test of fire. To demand decisions is responsible, to give up isn't.
Neville himself said that the loss was one of his worst moments in football (and he did actually say that by the way), but it appears that for many there are not enough signs of encouragement for him to continue as manager.
It was always going to be an extremely difficult job for Gary, and having not made the desired impact it appears as though a sacking in the near future would badly damage his reputation should he wish to continue as a manger.
