An Unfortunate Goalkeeper Howler Courtesy Of Athlone Town

Uh-oh Craig Sexton. The Athlone Town keeper's ability to clear his lines didn't match up to that of his oval-ball namesake against St Pat's last Friday. Lee Lynch did the honours for the Saints' third goal of the night. In fairness to Sexton, it does seem as though he was the victim of a terribly unlucky bobble. He did his best to flatten it after the incident, just in case the exact same scenario struck again.

The Midlanders lost the game 4-0 and are yet to register a single point from their first 10 games. They parted company with manager Mick Cooke last night after losing 2-3 at home to the same opposition in the Leinster Senior Cup. Cooke has already been replaced by League of Ireland stalwart Keith Long.

Goals for and against Pat's have been cropping up here a bit in the last few days. A week earlier, they conceded a cracker at the same end, a few days before this wonder strike at Hunky Dorys Park.
