Emiliano Martinez has dominated the headlines ever since Argentina's World Cup final win over France.

The goalkeeper was excellent in the decider, making a number of excellent saves throughout the game and the penalty shootout.

Of course, his antics in the aftermath of the game is what has captured most of the attention. Not only would he produce a lewd gesture after picking up his golden glove award, but he would also spend the following few days doing everything he could to annoy everyone involved in French football.

He is set to return to club action in the next week or so, although it appears as though his future at that level could be uncertain.

Unai Emery reportedly not convinced by Emiliano Martinez

Unai Emery has been in his role at Aston Villa since late October, although the amount of time he has spent with his players has been limited by the World Cup break.

He is likely to have us the last number of weeks to assess his squad ahead of the January transfer window, where the Spaniard will be looking to make some key signings.

The 51-year old will also be looking at selling some players, with his goalkeeper possibly among them.

Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Unai Emery is looking at selling Emiliano Martinez in the upcoming transfer window as he is not impressed with the temperament of the Argentine.

It is claimed that he is not enamoured with the idea of working with the goalkeeper, having also spent some time with him at Arsenal in the past. During this period, he was not seen as a viable long-term no. 1 at The Emirates.

Fichajes suggest that Morocco and Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou is seen as a potential replacement.

We were perhaps given a hint at Emery's feeling on Martinez earlier this week, when he admitted that he wasn't necessarily impressed by his antics in the aftermath of the World Cup win.

When you have big emotion, sometimes it is difficult to control it.

I will speak to him next week about some celebrations but I respect that he is now under the national team and when he will be with us, he is our responsibility then we can speak about it.

We are so proud of him. He won the World Cup with his national team and it's amazing.

This is one to keep an eye on in the weeks ahead.
