UCD and Shelbourne played out a scoreless draw at Belfield on Monday night.
During the second half, the game was delayed for eight minutes when a sprinkler started spraying water onto the pitch.
The players left the pitch while Tony Sheridan, a member of the UCD Bowl ground staff, attempted to shut off the water.
He eventually did so with the aid of a wheelbarrow only to see another nearby sprinkler go off.
