Two Irish internationals and former League of Ireland players have gone a long way towards helping a former Derry City striker get a vital operation abroad.
Mark Farren has been battling a brain tumour for six years now and needs treatment in Germany costing €30,000. His family launched an appeal for donations last Friday and in that time over €25,000 has been raised.
Almost 25% of that tally is down to Seamus Coleman alone, who has personally given Farren €6,800 (£5,000 in sterling) while James McLean has given €1,400 (£1,000).
The 33 year old from Donegal scored over 100 goals in nine seasons with Derry, and the club have to the fore in supporting him.
Collections have been taking place at League of Ireland games across the country this weekend.
