Ferguson received tributes from the great and the good and Sepp Blatter.
Sir Alex, one of the best managers of all time. After 26 years of success in the game, we all owe him a tribute.

It's just not sinking in! Manchester United with no Sir Alex just doesn't feel right. What a man and great that it has ended on his terms.

Miscellaneous
Wayne Rooney presumably most gutted at the possible Moyes news? He'll feel like McNulty when Marimow joined the wiretap team
— Musa Okwonga (@Okwonga) May 7, 2013
Moyes sued Rooney for libel after Rooney had in his autobiography claimed that Moyes had broken the player's confidence by repeating things he had been told in confidence by the player to the Liverpool Echo. The case was settled before it went to court with the Manchester United striker apologising and paying over £500,000 in damages and legal costs.
Hats off to @mogdentelegraph for scooping Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. Deserves ultimate accolade of being last journalist banned by SAF

Fergie the nice guy: Alex Ferguson was at Limerick's Pike Inn in 1989 & a rookie hack (me) asked for a 5 minute interview. He gave me an hour
— Alan English (@AlanEnglish9) May 8, 2013
Moyes ticks a number of boxes and may well be a smart move but, 'feel-wise', it's underwhelming and makes the job all about living up to AF
— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) May 8, 2013
If it was Mourinho, the pressure/story goes in another direction because he makes it all about him.
— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) May 8, 2013
If Steve McClaren's phone went now I bet there'd be a tiny part of him thinking, "Yes! Here we go!"

Sir Alex Ferguson to retire... Harry Redknapp reckons he can keep them up.
— Footy Humour (@FootyHumour) May 8, 2013
We hope the Glazers take this into consideration.
There is no way on earth MU would hire Jose Mourinho. End of.
