Wayne Rooney has taken an incredible amount of stick, some of it justified, for his performances as Manchester United's sole striker so far this season.
He's yet to find the net in the Premier League this season, but tonight Wayne Rooney's finishing was right on the money as he hit a hat-trick to easily guide Manchester United back to the Champions League group stages.
And Twitter exploded.

If this was down the local park, we'd give 'em Rooney for the last 20 minutes and play 0-0.

Before tonight Wayne Rooney hadn't scored in 10 games.
He's now United's top scorer this season.

When Rooney has bad games they tend to be really bad. But when he's good, he's very good. Movement for that goal is class.

Watch everybody stick Rooney back into their fantasy team for this weekend now.

Hat-trick for Rooney. Great to see. And the big difference tonight? Service.

It's a daft life being a striker. You go through spells where nothing works, you score and all of a sudden it's easy again @WayneRooney

If he fails to score against Swansea on Sunday now the internet will be up in arms.
