TV3 and their associated channels are going to be rebranded on August 30th, and will be henceforth known as Virgin Media One, Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Three.
The broadcaster announced the changes this afternoon, and also confirmed the launch of a brand new sports channel known as Virgin Media Sport which will be available exclusively to Virgin Media customers, and will be "the home of top-class European football and the latest sports news" per the broadcaster.
They also confirmed the glut of live sport they will show from September, which includes 450 live football matches from the Champions League, Europa League, and Euro 2020 qualifiers. TV3/Virgin Media have much more Champions League football than RTE next year, with two live games on a Wednesday night along with a match every Tuesday.
TV3 still have the rights to the Six Nations, and have buttressed their rugby coverage with the Champions Cup. The broadcaster will show one game from each round of the group stage, followed by a quarter-final, semi-final and the final. It is the first time the competition has been broadcast live on free-to-air TV in Ireland since 2006.
