TV3 and Virgin Media will dominate Irish TV coverage of the Champions League and Europa League for the next three seasons.

The broadcaster announced today that it has won exclusive Irish rights to all Wednesday night Champions League matches, all Thursday night Europa League matches and the finals of both competitions.

RTÉ announced that it has secured rights to first choice Champions League games on Tuesday evenings for the next three seasons. In addition, the TV3 Group will share the rights to 16 Tuesday night Champion League matches.

In previous years, TV3 showed games on Tuesdays while RTÉ had rights to Wednesdays.

The new deal comes into effect in August. The TV3 group - which includes TV3, 3e and Be3 - will have exclusive rights to 327 European matches. That includes the Champions League final round qualifiers and the Super Cup along with all highlights rights to both Champions League and Europa League.

From next season, new kick-off times come into effect for the Champions League. There will now be two kick-off times - 5:55pm and 8pm.
