Having had some mixed loan spells in the EFL in recent years, it was always going to be interesting to see how Troy Parrott fared on the continent this season.
His style of play has always seemed suited to playing in Europe, something that he would be given the opportunity to showcase at Excelsior Rotterdam. It's fair to say the move has worked out for him up to this point.
While the Dubliner was largely consigned to appearances off the bench to start the campaign as recovered from injury, he has become an increasingly important part of the side in recent months. He has started Excelsior's last ten league fixtures on the spin.
His personal tally for the Eredivisie season now stands at seven goals and three assists. Considering he was a bit part player at the beginning of the campaign, he has notched those numbers in the equivalent of 9.5 full games. That works at around one goal involvement per 90 minutes.
Considering that Troy Parrott is producing those numbers for a team operating in the lower echelons of the league, it is not surprising that other clubs are now starting to pay attention to the player.

Troy Parrott drawing interesting from Dutch clubs
The 42 are reporting that some of the biggest clubs in Dutch football are interested in signing Troy Parrott this summer, with Ajax and PSV Eindhoven considering a move for him in the months ahead. Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar are also said to be monitoring his progress.
Ajax have had a very poor season by their own high standards, currently sitting fifth in the league. However, they are the biggest club in the Netherlands and would represent a huge opportunity for a player of Parrott's calibre.
PSV are currently ten points clear at the top of the league and could likely offer Champions League football next season. Feyenoord are in second place and also look odds on to qualify for Europe's biggest club competition.
Troy Parrott has around 18 months left on his current Spurs contract, although he looks unlikely to make a first team breakthrough in North London in the near future. They would likely be open to selling the Irishman this summer and could receive a reasonable fee considering his form this season.
At 22-years old, it seems like the right time to move on.
A permanent move to the Netherlands would suit the player considering the way he has thrived in Dutch football in recent months. The forward would also be keen to ensure consistent playing time as he looks to force his way into the plans of the next Ireland manager.
Parrott has been capped 21 times for Ireland at senior level since making his debut in 2019.
