It is a big night for several Irish players with the most significant news that 17-year old Dubliner Troy Parrott will make his first-team senior debut for Tottenham in their League Cup clash away to Colchester.

Parrott scored three times in two games for the Ireland under-21s earlier this month and has been a much-touted prospect at the Premier League club. He will lead the line tonight in a line-up that also features Lucas Moura and Dele Ali.

He is not the only Irish striker starting this evening. Michael Obafemi's Southampton takes on Ronan Curtis's Portsmouth in a tie that sees Shane Long make the Saints bench. That clash is live on Sky Sports.

Elsewhere, Irish youngster Nathan Collins starts alongside Stephen Ward and Scott Hogan for Stoke as they take on Crawley Town while Joe Rafferty and Alan Browne both start for Preston against Manchester City.
