Last week, news seeped out that the McGettigan group, currently looking to take over Bray Wanderers held talks with Damien Duff's representatives.
It naturally fuelled speculation that Bray were the club for Duffer, though Shamrock Rovers have also been rumoured to be in the frame.
New Bray manager Trevor Croly is not shy about his desire to bring Duff to the Carlisle Grounds.
I’m only in so I’ve not got down that road with Damien. He would be a great addition.
If Damien is fit, he’s at another level, let’s be honest, so if Damien was interested in playing for Bray Wanderers and he’s fit, it would be very very nice to work with him.
Duff, currently with Melbourne City, announced his intention to return home to finish his career in the League of Ireland in a Skype interview on Soccer Republic a couple of months back.
Bray, currently struggling in the nether reaches of the League of Ireland and racked by behind the scenes problems, would not be the most glamorous of options. But Duff is a frequent visitor to the Carlisle Grounds and has a long association with Bray stalwart Pat Devlin.
We'll wait and see
