Just 5 days left until the transfer window slams shut and the stench of fear and desperation hangs heavy in the air. Mainly the air around Arsenal's trainig ground though let's be honest. There's no such stench in Manchester where the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic,  Paul Pogba, John Stones and Leroy Sane are lounging having brunch and enjoying the last vestiges of summer. No such joy for Wenger who is sweating. Sweating profusely.

Here is today's Transfer Rumour Roundup:

Transfer Rumour Roundup

The Daily Mail are reporting that Monsieur Wenger is 99% sure that he can complete the signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez before the window shuts. The pair are worth £35m and £16m respectively, at a total price of just over £50m. Now watch as Wenger tries to negtiate it to £47.5m and lose them both.

Tellingly, Mustafi has not been named in the Valencia squad to face Eibar at the weekend.

Joe Hart will have to take a substantial pay cut to tempt Jurgen Klopp into making an offer according to The Sun, something he is reportedly willing to do. Joe needs a new club with ambition and Liverpool need a goalkeeper who isn't a total liability. Seems like an obvious one to me.

West Ham are close to signing Simone Zaza on loan from Juventus with a  £24m buy option according to The Daily Mail. You might remember him from that god-awful penalty in the Euros. You know, the one where he came on as a substitute specifically to take a penalty, did a meandering run and then skied it. Rumour has it the ball is still airborne and that the baby Jesus wept.

The Guardian are reporting that Chelsea are chasing PSG centre-back Marquinhos and will offer a bid around £50m. PSG will probably reject that but remember that time Chelsea sold David Luiz to PSG for a similarly extortionate amount? They should be sound and return the favour! The rumour is that Jose Mourinho is also interested in the Brazilian.

The Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea are looking to bring Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso to The Bridge. The 25-year old would act as cover to a team which is a bit defensively light.

Mauricio Pochettino is interested in bringing Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala to to Spurs. The Frenchman doesn't seem likely to get much game-time under Pep and with John Stones set to hold down his place, he may need to head to London to ply his trade.

Leicester City are reportedly interested in bringing in ex-Stoke midfielder Steven N'Zonzi for, wait for it... £25m! Yes. That is a thing that exists. That particular rumour comes from The Guardian.

Wilfried Zaha has reportedly told Alan Pardew that he wants to leave Crystal Palace. According to The Daily Mail, Spurs are considering a £15m move. Don't get above your station now Wilfried. Remember what happened last time?

According to L'Equipe, Manchester United have been told that they will have to pay £25m for Monaco defender Fabinho. The 22-year-old would come in as direct competition for Valencia and Darmian.

Tired of scrounging for unwanted Manchester United players, David Moyes has decided to break from tradition and make a bid for a player outside of his ex-club. Moyes has confirmed that they have made a bid (believed to be around £8m) for the Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra.
