Paul Pogba is going to Man United. That much, from the thousands and thousands of articles seem clear. There is some work to completely finalise a deal yet, including who pays the large sum of money to superagent Mino Raiola - but it's fairly safe to assume that Paul Pogba will take the no. 6 jersey at Old Trafford next season.
Which is why the latest report from the Express smells a little funky:
That headline, really? "Jose may give up on Pog?"
Can you really believe that? After all of the postulating, all of the chasing, all of the lusting after the one that got away - they are going to 'give up' when they get so close? Not happening.
Man United have literally been chasing Pogba since he left, and now that personal terms and a fee have been agreed, them giving up isn't an option. Now, according to the story - Mourinho will target two other players.
That does seem to have an element of truth in it. In Mourinho's press conference ahead of the China pre-season tour - the Portuguese manager talked about having back-up plans in the transfer market. He called it prudence, which it is. But everything that is being reported about Pogba's deal should mean that those options aren't required. For clarity sake - those options are Chelsea's Nemanja Matic, and France's Blaise Matuidi - neither of whom are anything like the style of player of Pogba.
So yes, this transfer bullshit of the day the week the month the year all time is expecting you to believe that Man United are going to give up chasing the player they've coveted for years, now that they are so close - so they can get a holding midfielder.
I hope you laughed as hard as I did.
