It's no surprise there's a list of clubs interested in Sammie Szomodics signature ahead of the new season. The future of last's season Championship golden boot at Blackburn has looked uncertain for some time, with a number of clubs keen on signing the Republic of Ireland striker.
Ipswich Town and Leeds United are among the clubs interested in signing Szmodics, but Blackburn's valuation of the striker has not been met as of yet.
Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace appears resigned to the fact that he may lose his star striker, admitting he has been kept out of recent friendlies in order to maintain his fitness ahead of a potential move.
Listen, it's down to the two clubs, it's not down to me.
The two clubs are talking, there was no point risking him. He's a very fit lad and a good player so we'll see how that develops.
Szmodics' goals kept Blackburn in the Championship as they finished 19th, three points above the relegation zone.
It seems like he will be moving on in the near future, with the club having set a deadline for a potential move.

Blackburn Rovers set Sammie Szmodics transfer deadline
At 28, Szmodics will know that he won’t get many more opportunities to play in the top-flight and he has been open on numerous occasions about his desire to play in the Premier League.
Blackburn are becoming frustrated with how long negotiations are taking for their star man, having started over two weeks ago, while Ipswich are not prepared to pay an inflated fee.
With Rovers' Championship season starting at home to Derby in two weeks, the issue is disrupting their preparations and there is a sense the matter needs to be resolved soon.
As Szomodics signed a new deal with the club in November that bring his contract until 2026, Rovers are in a strong bargaining position in regards to a deal.
Sun journalist Alan Nixon says time is ticking and clubs must move swiftly if they are to secure Szmodics services. He wrote on his Patreon page:
Ipswich and Leeds have been told that Szmodics has to be sold by Wednesday or he will stay.
The countdown is on for his dream move but you get the sense there's still some mileage to go in this deal.
From an Irish perspective, it would be great to see him in the Premier League next season.
