Chris Kilbride, a van driver who swerved to avoid Clarke Carlisle during the footballer's suicide attempt and who subsequently consoled the driver who hit him, has died aged 24.

Kilbride was driving his car on the A64 when Clarke Carlisle strode out in front of him. Kilbride swerved and avoided the footballer but a lorry coming after hit him.

The lorry driver left his vehicle to console Kilbride and attend to Carlisle after calling for help. Unfortunately, Mr. Kilbride died on Thursday.
